This certification is a symbol of what sets me apart from other inspectors, including Florida Licensed Home Inspectors, without this credential! I have successfully completed the requirements of an "ASHI Certified Inspector", the only Certified Home Inspector Program that has been accredited by the National Commission for Certifing Agencies. The NCCA evaluates parent associations for viability and integrity along with their certification programs for fairness, reliability and means for recertification. No other home inspection association has meet this level of scrutiny or has the ability to issue this level of certification. Florida now requires "Home Inspectors" to be licensed by the State. BEWARE of hiring someone who only holds a State license. When licensing starts in any state or local, it is not designed to put people out of business. The purpose is to control what they do and to hold them responsible in part by requiring insurance and by disciplinary action the state can pursue. Licensing will make all the inspectors appear the same, but we are definitely not all created equal. The longer a profession is licensed, through attrition, the low or under qualified individuals are hoped to be reduced. While I have performed over 6,000 home inspections complying to the ASHI Standards, someone holding only a license by the state could have as few as 120 inspections without complying to any standard. Below is a copy of my State License, as required by law to provide to the consumer.
